Today officially marked the return of the highly sought after “Concord” Air Jordan Retro 11, which made its way back to retail for the first time (excluding the 2006 Defining Moments Package release) since 2000. The shoe sold out everywhere in a matter of minutes, including right here at Eastbay, and gained national news coverage on several major stations. Why are the “Concords” so important to sneakerheads? Simply put – the history. Originally released in 1995, the Tinker Hatfield designed classic introduced patent leather to basketball footwear for the very first time. The Cordura-constructed and carbon fiber spring plate supported Jordan shoes were also Michael Jordan’s primary footwear weapon of choice when he led the Chicago Bulls to their record 72-win season, which resulted in a fourth NBA Championship for the franchise.
To celebrate the return of this groundbreaking sneaker, Sole Shots spotlights the “Concord” 11 in a series of photos submitted by members of the Sole Collector Forums and sneaker enthusiasts from around the world. Let us know which shots are your favorite and share your “Concord” pickup experience in the comment section below.
