Lionel Messi

Shake it, don't break itLionel Messi. Ever heard of him? If you haven't, you also haven't watch a single professional soccer match. Messi is by far, the BEST soccer player in the WORLD. "Oh, but I thought Ronaldo was the best player in the world?" No, you're dumb. Ronaldo might be the best looking soccer player in the world and ONE of the best players in the world, but Messi is THE best.

When Messi was 11, he was playing soccer for a youth academy in Argentina called Newell's Old Boys, who are based in Messi's home city of Rosario. It was there that they discovered he had a growth hormone deficiency. Doctors would tell him that he would have to go through treatment every month and it would cost $900 a month. Newell's couldn't afford to cover that expense, so FC Barcelona stepped up and offered to pay for his medical bills if he moved to Spain and joined their youth academy. The rest is history.

Big Time Flow
He played for Barcelona's first team at 16 in a friendly and made his La Liga debut a year later at 17. At the time, Messi was the youngest player to play in a La Liga game and score in a La Liga game. Messi also became the youngest player to score in a match between Barcelona and Real Madrid, otherwise known as El Clasico (think Yankees vs. Red Sox). His first goal in El Clasico happened to be the first goal in a hat trick, but nbd.

His awards are endless, he's won 5 La Liga Championships, 1 Copa del Rey trophy, 3 Champions League trophys, a FIFA Club World Cup, a FIFA U-20 World Cup, an Olympic Gold Medal and 2 FIFA Player of the Year awards.

So, we here at BOHO would like to honor Lionel Messi with this week's Flow Friday and we would also like to wish him (and myself) and Happy Golden 24th Birthday.

What chu want?
