Katrina Kaif born on 16 July, 1984 is an actress and model from India who has appeared in Bollywood, Telugu and Malayalam movies. Being a British citizen, Katrina Kaif works in India on an employment visa.
Katrina Kaif childhood and family:
Katrina Kaif was born in Hongkong, her father was a Kashmiri named Mohammed Kaif and mother was a British named Suzzane Turquotte. His mother, a graduate of Harvard , was a lawyer, but later became involved in charity work. Her parents separated when Katrina Kaif was very young. Katrina Kaif has seven siblings. She grew up in Hawaii and later moved to the country of origin of its parent, India.
Katrina Kaif has been considered the sexiest woman in India by women’s magazines FHM and Maxim. Mattel, the toy store, has said a new Barbie doll has been modeled after her.
At the age of fourteen she was approached by an agent and began modeling. Her first job was for a jewelry campaign. She continued modeling in London, with a contract with Models agency.
The modeling work in London led her to discovery by filmmaker Kaizad taste, which gave her a role in his film Boom (2003). She moved to Mumbai and was offered a series of modeling tasks. However, the filmmakers were initially reluctant to sign her because she could not speak Hindi.
Kaif had success with the 2005 film Sarkar where she played the supporting role of Abhishek Bachchan’s girlfriend. Her next release, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005), in which she teamed up with Salman Khan, won the Stardust Breakthrough Award.
In 2007, Kaif appeared in the hit movie Namastey London, where she served as British girl of Indian origin alongside Akshay Kumar for the second time after box office flop Humko Deewana Kar Gaye (2006). Since then she has appeared in a series of box office hits that include Apne, Partner and Welcome.
In 2008 she played a negative role for the first time in the action film Race by Abbas-Mustan. She played the role of the secretary of Saif Ali Khan who is secretly in love with his hostile brother played by Akshay Khanna.
Her second release of the year was the production of Anees Bazmee’s Singh Is Kinng with Akshay Kumar, which was a blockbuster. Kaif’s latest work of the year, Subhash Ghai’s Yuvvraaj which was a commercial failure , but the script made its way into the library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for artistic, original screenplay for the film substance as a whole.
Kaif’s first release for 2009, New York with John Abraham was a critical and commercial success. Kaif’s performance was appreciated by the critic Taran Adarsh who said “Katrina gives you the greatest surprise. Known for her glamorous roles, Katrina shows that she can deliver if the director and writer offer a paper substance. She is amazing. In fact, people will see a different Katrina this time.” She later appeared in a small role as a biker girl in action film Blue, which was also a failure.
