Though the face lifted 2012 Tata Nano has already hit the country, Tata Motors’ woe with the previous version of the Nano has not yet come to a full stop. Just last week, Tata Motorshas recalled about 1.39 lakh units of the Nano to replace the faulty starter motor. But Tata Motors insists that the exercise is not a recall. This exercise would set back Tata Motors’ finances to the tune of about Rs 110 crore.
Tata Motors, last year in the month of November 2010 had recalled about 70,000 Nanos after several random incidents of fire gutting down the Nanos was reported. Back then, Tata Motors had installed fire safety devices in the recalled Tata Nano free of cost.
The 2012 edition of the Tata Nano promises a powerful engine with better fuel efficiency and a host of new features, but with no increased price.
